If you have small children and a busy work schedule, cooking complex and time consuming meals is usually not an option. You may want to choose from quick and easy meals that fit into your plan of choice so that you have more time to spend with your children.

Tips for Quick Meals

The most important point is to choose healthy foods that fit into your diet. When going to the grocery deli, for example, opt for roasted turkey or beef. They are excellent lean meat options. Many grocery stores also offer turkey breasts, whole chickens, and chicken breasts. Besides using healthy ingredients, the meals of choice depend on the season. It is always best to buy fresh, seasonal, and local produce. In summer, main dish salads are a great choice for a healthy, quick meal. They are easy to prepare, light, and tasty. Just combine ingredients of your choice – spinach leaves or lettuce, walnuts, cherry tomatoes, grilled chicken or tuna, blue cheese, cucumber, or anything else you like. If you don’t have time to cook, you may want to prepare vegetarian versions of your favorite meals. They often take less time. There are quick to prepare veggie meals such as omelets, egg-based dishes, casseroles, roasted vegetables, and others. Frozen entrees are another option for busy parents and employees.

Quick Low Carb Meals

There are many recipes to try depending on your dietary plan, taste, and other requirements. Some meals, entrees, and desserts take 30 minutes and even less. Examples include tomatoes with gruyere, roasted broccoli, bacon and asparagus omelet, mushroom and zucchini sauté, blueberries with cream, and many others. Of course, your children are not on a low carb diet, either because they are too young or because they are in their healthy weight range. You will have to cook separate meals for them. While this may sound time consuming, it doesn’t have to be. You can choose from plenty of quick and healthy meals for your kids as well. There are many kid-friendly recipes such as chili cheese mac, baked mozzarella bites, spaghetti with tomato sauce and turkey meatballs, tomato and basil soup, and others.

Think of the Ingredients

If you have to cook separate meals for you, your partner, and your children, things get more complicated, especially if you need different ingredients. One solution is to choose meals that share common ingredients. If you plan to make chicken salad for yourself, you can prepare chicken and pepperoni for your kids. Of course, your children can have low carb meals as well, but make sure they have a balanced menu that is appropriate for their age, sex, weight, and requirements.

As a rule, you should choose healthy products such as lean meats, fish, and plenty of vegetables. You can have chicken breast or grilled salmon, roasted vegetables, and fresh salsas. Chicken breast and grilled salmon, for example, go well with different entrees, dish salads, and pastas. Roasted vegetables are ideal for vegetarian quesadillas, low carb tortillas, and so on. Fresh salsas and dips can be combined in a number of ways. You can use them with meat entrees, gourmet-style dishes, snacks, and other meals. What you can do is buy some key ingredients and combine them in different ways.
